| Willowbank Wildlife Hospital Fund Raiser |
The
Nut Point Gallery is has extended its charity activities. in 2009
an art Auction was held for the Wild life Hospital at Willowbank
wildlife Reserve fundraiser auction.Willowbank wildlife reserve is in
the process of founding and building a new hospital building for The
Wildlife Hospital-Education and Research Centre. The Hospital’s
activities include conservation and preservation of New Zealand wildlife
and research of wild animals unique to the south island. .
The Hospital’s main aim is to provide veterinary care for orphaned,
injured or ill wildlife, and see them through the whole process of
treatment and recovery until they are ready to be released in the wild
or returned to their confined facility.
The Hospital’s facilities and its experienced staff are available to the
Department of Conservation staff, veterinarians, veterinary nurses,
students of tertiary learning institutions and conservation groups, and
provide unique hands-on experience and training working with wildlife
not otherwise available in the South Island.
The Willowbank Wildlife fundraiser . The Gallery approached over 40
artists from Canterbury and over seas who where willing to donate part
of their work to be sold under the hammer for this worthy cause.

charity event was orgnised. |
Supported by the artists exhibiting; auctioneer Lindsay
Dodd
from Auction Solutions Ltd and the Helping Hand Group, a
collection of magnificent art work by Canterbury and overseas artists.
where auctioned alongside a number of valuable collector’s items
such as:
-Sir Edmund Hillary signed limited edition lithograph – New Zealand’s
very own conqueror of Mt. Everest & the world's greatest-ever explorer.
-Sir Elton John framed LP and double photo piece, hand signed by one of
the world’s most successful artists of all time.
-Sir Paul McCartney signed photo, framed with replica mini-Guitar as
used by the Legendary Beatle!
Over 20 pieces of art
work were sold on the night under the hammer and by the silent part of
the Auction.
$5,000 where raised,
assisting the Wildlife Hospital Trust to purchase one of its major
veterinary devices.
